The American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor course certifies candidates to teach swimming and water safety courses. The content includes teaching progressions, lesson planning, skill error recognition, fitness, training and more.
Students must be 15 years of age on or before the last scheduled day of class, successfully demonstrate correct form in swimming all six traditional strokes (Front Crawl, Back Crawl, Breaststroke, Elementary Backstroke, Sidestroke, Butterfly) in addition to floating and treading water.
