Special Programs is a category of events, classes, clinics, workshops, and special population programs offered by the Derby Recreation Commission.
Kid's School's Out Day & Summer Camps
Camp DRC and School's Out OAC is offered as a fun day camp for when kids have a day off from school. Recreation Station is our summer camp program offering weekly themes, games, crafts and field trips. New this summer are youth camps for Arts as well as Culinary. Horseback Riding Camps & Clinics are offered year around. Registration for camps can be made online. Recreation Station summer program registration is only required at the DRC if wanting a payment plan. Download the Recreation Station Parent Manual and review. A Camper Information Form and Health History Form for each child attending must be completed online before allowed to attend Recreation Station. Special Events
The DRC offers a wide variety of family-friendly special events in the USD 260 community including Horseback Riding Camp, Date Night Drop Off, Kite Fest, ESports Game Nights, Egg Hunts and More! Most special community events are FREE or at a reduced cost due to sponsorship. If you would like to become a sponsor of one or more of our special events, please email our Marketing Director.
Special Populations / Free Spirits
The Special Populations area features programs and events for individuals with mental and/or physical disabilities. It also includes Free Spirits activities. The Free Spirits program is designed for individuals with physical or intellectual disabilities. The Free Spirits assists people to participate in various social, recreation and leisure activities.
