Pool Rules
General Facility Rules:
Have a fun and safe day at Rock River Rapids!
A parent or adult; 16 years or older, must actively supervise children 7 years of age and younger.
Children 5 years of age and younger must be directly accompanied by an “in-water” adult.
1 “in-water” adult is required for every 5 swimmers 7 years of age and younger.
All guests entering the facility, including supervising adults, must pay the appropriate fees.
All swimmers are required to take a cleansing head to toe shower before entering the pool
Proper swimsuit attire must be worn at all times. No cotton material, cutoffs, thongs, t-shirts or other swimsuits determined inappropriate by management will be permitted.
Swimsuits with zippers, buckles, rivets or any other metal ornamentation will not be allowed on the slides.
Children must wear swim diapers. Swim diapers are available for purchase at the gift shop.
Diapers must be changed at the diaper changing stations in the locker rooms or restrooms.
In case of rash, skin disease or open sores, a written statement from a physician will be required before admission is granted.
Smoking or tobacco use is not permitted within 50 feet of the facility (including ecigarettes).
Guests should not loiter or play near land or water entries. This includes entrance gates, handicap access entrances to the pools, all ladders, stairs and rails.
Guests suspected of being under the influence of alcohol or drugs will not be admitted.
Coolers, jugs, food or drinks may not be brought into the facility. Glass containers of any kind are not permitted in the facility.
Floatation devices and water toys (balls, life-belts, inner tubes, rafts, etc.) are subject to approval from the aquatic staff.
The Derby Recreation Commission, City of Derby or Aquatic Staff is not responsible for loss of personal belongings.
Management reserves the right to review, change and establish rules as deemed necessary
Personal Conduct:
No running at any time.
Dunking or rough play is not allowed.
Abusive or profane language is prohibited.
Towel snapping or towel fighting is not allowed.
Diving is allowed only in water 5 feet deep or greater.
No back dives, flips, preacher seats or can openers allowed off the side of the pool.
Playing on lifeguard stands is prohibited.
Shallow Play Pool Rules:
A parent or adult must supervise children 7 years of age and younger in the play area at all times.
Children 5 years of age and younger must be directly accompanied by an “in-water” adult.
If the play amenity is fabricated with foot rests and hand grips, then the rider shall participate in a responsible and safe manner by utilizing these features at all times.
Slide one at a time in a forward seated position, feet first.
Do not place children on laps when sliding.
Do not slide headfirst.
Slides are down only, no climbing or stopping.
When exiting the slide, immediately leave the slide landing area.
Please walk.
No horseplay is allowed.
The floatables and slides in the play pool are designated and intended for use by small children and toddlers.
Weight limits are not to exceed 125 total pounds on any one component at a time.
Participants must be in good health.
Individuals with health related problems such as heart or back conditions should not participate in the activity pool.
Lily Pad Rules:
Please enter and exit only.
Swimmers must be able to reach the cargo net without assistance.
Swimmers are not allowed in the fall zone.
One person at a time.
No pulling or tugging on rope, cargo net, or lily pads while waiting in line.
Swimmers must exit the lily pad immediately after falling off.
Swimming under the lily pad area is not allowed.
Walk on the lily pads
Floatable Animal Rules:
Please remain seated at all times. No standing allowed on any floatables.
Jumping or diving off floatables is not allowed.
Do not push or pull others off.
Slide Rules:
All riders must be at least 48” tall to ride the slides on the triple structure and drop slides. Riders must be at least 42” tall to ride the Green slide.
Maximum rider weight is 300 pounds.
Non-swimmers are not permitted.
Approved swim suits only – no cut off jeans.
Swimwear with zippers, buckles, rivets or any other metal ornamentation will not be allowed on the slides.
No combs or foreign objects are allowed in pockets, and no jewelry can be worn while riding the slide.
Riders must be in good health.
Individuals with medical conditions including but not limited to: pregnancy, heart or back conditions should not use this ride.
The line should form on the deck with one rider on each landing and one rider in the starter tub.
Wait until the landing is clear before entering.
Riders must enter the slide in a sitting position and wait for instructions from the attendant stationed at the slide starter tub.
Do not pull or propel yourself into the ride.
Follow the lifeguard’s instructions.
Riders must lie on their backs at all times
Sitting up while riding the slide is not permitted.
All riders must ride feet first while lying on their back with arms crossed across their chest.
Only one rider at a time.
Absolutely no trains or chains of riders are permitted.
No tubes, mats or life jackets are permitted on the slides.
No running, standing, kneeling, rotating, tumbling or stopping in the flume,
Arms and hands must remain inside the flume.
No diving from the slides into the catch pool.
Leave the catch pool promptly after exiting the slide.
Do not use this slide while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
WARNING: Water depth is 3 feet 6 inches. Failure to follow rules can result in serious injury.
Inner Tube Slide Rules:
All riders must be at least 48” tall.
Swimwear with zippers, buckles, rivets or any other metal ornamentation will not be allowed on the slides.
No combs or foreign objects are allowed in pockets, and no jewelry can be worn while riding the slide.
Riders must be in good health.
Individuals with medical conditions including but not limited to: pregnancy, heart or back conditions should not use this ride.
The line should form on the deck with one rider on each landing and one rider in the starter tub.
Wait until the landing is clear before entering.
Maximum operational load for double tube with 2 guests is 600 pounds.
Maximum operational load for single tube with 1 guest is 300 pounds.
Only one inner tube to enter the flume at a time.
On double tubes, the biggest rider should ride at the back of the tube.
All riders should lean back while riding, keeping the weight at the back of the tube.
Tubes should be ridden in a seated position while leaning back, facing forward.
Riders must wait for the attendants start signal before starting the ride.
Follow the directions of the slide attendant.
Riders must stay on the tubes during the ride.
If you accidently fall out of the tube, continue down the flume without it and exit normally.
Keep arms and hands inside the flume at all times.
Do not kneel, stand, rotate, stop or dive in the slide.
Never form chains.
At the end of the slide, obey all instructions of the catch pool lifeguard and exit quickly, taking your tube with you.
Do not use this slide while under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
WARNING: Water depth is 3 feet 6 inches. Failure to follow rules can result in serious injury.
Lazy River Rules:
Riders must remain in tubes at all times.
No swimming or walking allowed.
No horseplay on tubes (pushing, rocking, hitting, etc.)
No diving anywhere along the river.
Two riders only per double tubes.
Riders under 48” must wear a Coastguard approved lifejacket.
Can ride in a single tube with an adult 16 years of age or older.
Can ride on an enclosed bottom double tube with an adult 16 years of age or older.
Diving Board Rules:
Must be comfortable in deep water and may be asked to perform a swim test
Guests who pass a swim test will be given a printed wrist band
Guests must be 48” tall to go off the high dive (height markers are posted)
Divers must receive hand signal each time from the lifeguard before going off the board.
Only divers are allowed in the diving area.
No goggles, masks or floatation devices allowed off the board.
One person allowed on the diving board at a time.
Walk to the end of the board.
Only one bounce on the board.
Divers must jump or dive straight off the board (no backward motion allowed)
Divers must enter the water with both arms extended overhead.
Please use the nearest ladder to exit the diving area.
Pool Basketball:
No dunking.
No touching the rim or net.
Players must be in the water to participate.
No rough play.
Aqua Climb Rules:
Lifeguard must be on duty.
Experienced swimmers only.
Only one climber at a time on the Aquaclimb.
Only one swimmer at a time in the drop zone.
Feet first entries only – No diving, flips or launching
Exit using the ladder at the side of the pool.
Floatation devices are not permitted.
Only one climb up the wall per turn.
Locker Rules:
Bring your own lock to put on a locker
Combination locks are available for purchase at the gift shop.
Please remove locks at the end of each day.
Locks left on lockers will be cut off at the end of each day.
Hanging on or slamming locker doors is prohibited.
Do not loiter or play near locker areas.
