Free Spirits CheerFree Spirits Sports
Free Spirits sports provide great opportunities to participate in an array of sports programs year round. Join a sports program and challenge yourself to one of the many competitions that include Mid-America games, Challenge, Special Olympic, and more. A current Special Olympic Kansas physical is required for sport participation.

Participation Requirements
In order to participate in Special Olympic sport activities a person must also be:
  • 8 years or older
  • Diagnosed with intellectual disabilities.
  • Have significant learning or vocational problems.

Nothing but net! It's time to sign up for Free Spirits basketball. The Free Spirits will compete in league games as well as the area competition and the Special Olympics Kansas state tournament in Hays. Teams are formed by age and skill level. Please register before the first practice.

Go Free Spirits! Show us your spirit and become a Free Spirit cheerleader! The squad will practice weekly in preparation for area and state competition.

Track & Field
The Free Spirits Track season is racing your way! The team will take part in area and state competitions. Athletes can choose to participate in a variety of events such as the softball throw, long jump, shot put, and walking and running races.

Physically Challenged Track & Field
Drag out those running shoes and warm up those race chairs! Track season is just around the corner. Indoor practice runs through March with outdoor practice beginning in April. Athletes will compete in the Mid-America Games and Challenge 2014.

You'll flip over this sport! Athletes will learn the balance beam, floor exercise, and vault. The team will practice weekly and participate in the Special Olympic State Summer Games in Wichita.

This sport is a splash! Athletes will work on many different strokes; freestyle, breaststroke, butterfly, and backstroke. Events include individual races and relays. The team will compete in the area and state competitions held in Wichita.

Bocce NightBocce
Join the Free Spirits for bocce. Weekly practices will be held to prepare the team for the Special Olympic state tournament in Olathe. The State Tournament will be held in September.

Bump, Set, Spike! The Free Spirits volleyball team will practice weekly in preparation for league and tournament competitions. Don't miss out on the fun. The season will conclude with a trip to Kansas City for the Fall Classic. You must register prior to the first practice.

Whether you get a strike, spare, or a gutterball, it's all fun with the Free Spirits! Practice is held weekly. The team will compete in area competition in Wichita and the Fall Classic in Kansas City.

Off Season Training
Are you looking for a way to stay in shape and socialize at the same time? Off season training goes through a rotation of four different sports: track, volleyball, basketball, and swimming. Don't miss your chance to improve your skills in these Special Olympic sports.
