	RIVER RUNNING: River Running is an exciting class we offer in the river at Rock River Rapids. Our instructor will challenge you and personalize your workout for your current fitness level. This class will combine a variety of exercises, from kickboxing to Pilates, all utilizing the core abdominal and lower back muscles. Strength training and flexibility will be emphasized through water resistance and stretching. Classes will be held in both the shallow pool and the lazy river at Rock River Rapids. INSTRUCTOR: Chase DATES: June 7-July 31 DAYS: TIME: FEE: M/W 10:30-11:30am $36 T/TH 10:30-11:30am $36 NEW Aqua Zumba Instructor: Scheider T/TH 7:45-8:30pm $36 ROCK RIVER RAPIDS 500 “Racers, Start Your Engines!” Be at Rock River Rapids for the Green Flag of the second annual Rock River Rapids 500. Throughout the day, styrofoam race cars will be available to purchase for $3 each, then head over to the “Detail Shop” where you can decorate your car for the big race. Cars do not have to be decorated, but must be purchased before2:30pm to be eligible for the race. At 2:20pm the lazy river will be cleared and will be reopened once all the cars are removed. The race will start at 2:30pm and the cars will complete one lap around the lazy river to determine the winners. There will be several prize categories. Racers can take their cars home once the race is over. DATE: Wednesday July 7 AGES: All ages welcome TIME: 1:00-3:00pm FEE: Regular park admission + $3.00 per car POOCH POOL PARTY Rock River Rapids will end the season with a doggie splash! The Pooch Pool Party takes place after the humans have used the pool for the last time this swim season. Chemicals in the water are adjusted "for a different breed of swimmers". For HUMAN"S safety, only adults 16 years and older can get in the water and only up to their thighs. We will NOT allow any children in the water. No aggressive dog or females in heat will be allowed for the safety of other guests. All dogs much have current vaccinations including rabies. Owner must be in control of their pet(s) at all times, two pets per. Door Prizes will be given out throughout the event as well as prizes for biggest dog, smallest dog, best dressed dog and more! There are now different categories of Level 6 to choose from; Fitness Swimmer focuses on building up endurance and perfecting strokes to prepare you for competitive swimming and a healthier lifestyle. Parent/Student orientation prior to swimming at the first class meeting. DATE: June 7-17 or July 5-15 DAY: Monday-Thursday TIME: 9:00am-9:50am FEE: $27.00 LEARN TO SWIM LEVEL 6 Personal Water Safety The objective of Learn to Swim Level 6 is to refine strokes so students swim them with more ease, efficiency, power and smoothness over greater distance. DATE: June 21-July 1 or July 19-29 DAY: Monday-Thursday TIME: 9:00am-9:50am FEE: $27.00 OAKLAWN SWIM LESSONS The Derby Recreation Commission will provide transportation to and from swim lessons for Oaklawn and Cooper youth. Please use regular enrollment procedures to register and indicate if you would like transportation. Scholarships are available. Inquire at the Derby Recreation Commission Administrative Office. DATE: June 1-11 DAY: Monday-Thursday TIME: 8:00-8:50am 9:00-9:50am AGES: 5 & older FEE: $27.00 DIVING-BEGINNER & ADVANCED Dive right in! Diving technique and safety will be taught for the beginner, along with the basics on a one-meter board. Level 4 swim skills are required. The advanced class will work on advanced dives on one-meter and three-meter boards.
