The Derby
Recreation Center contains a state of the art Fitness Center that is equipped with a wide
variety of equipment such as Precor treadmills, StairMasters, Paramount weight machines
and free weights. Participants are required to be 16 or older to utilize the Center.
Proper health forms including a health questionnaire should be completed and returned to
fitness staff before participation in fitness activities. The Derby Recreation Commission
reserves the right to request medical clearance at any time for participants. |
| ORIENTATIONS |
Not sure how
to use the Fitness Center equipment or want to make sure you are using it correctly? We
require that each new member go through an orientation. This brief overview of the Fitness
Center will show you the dos and donts of the Fitness Center weight machines, how to
program the cardiovascular equipment and general information to help you with starting a
workout program. Stop by or call the Fitness Center for your orientation time, 788-3781
Ext. 106. Check with your doctor before beginning any fitness program. The Derby
Recreation Commission reserves the right to request medical clearance at any time for any
participant. Orientations are available by appointment only.

Leave your
towel at home? |
The Fitness
Center provides hand towels to all members. All you need is your membership card to use
the towel service.
PERSONAL TRAINING |
Have
you been weight training and not seeing the desired changes?
Or, have you reached a fitness plateau where you have stopped making progress? Or, maybe you just have no idea where to begin with
a workout program. To provide you with better
service, the DRC is offering a Personal Training program where you will receive: |
· One-on-one training to learn how to properly use the equipment and
become comfortable working out in the weight room. |
· Customized workout programming designed for maximum effectiveness to
suit your fitness level and goals. |
Come in, fill out some
forms, and let us know what your fitness goals are. With
both male and female trainers available, you can choose one or we can choose for you. Whether your goal is for daily functionality, basic
fitness, or preparation for a sport event, Personal Training may be just right for you! |

PERSONAL
FITNESS CONSULTATIONS |
Do you have
trouble sticking with your workout or are you just not seeing the results from the workout
youre currently on? The Fitness Centers Personal Fitness Consultation gives
you an opportunity to have a certified instructor set you up on a workout routine that
fits your fitness level and schedule. Includes two body composition tests and cardio
check. This program also monitors your progress. Call or stop by the Fitness Center to set
up an appointment, 788-3781 ext. 106. |

5000-Near Infrared Body Composition Analysis |
| The Fitness
Center is proud to offer a state of the art machine that can measure your
percentage of body fat and lean mass through Near Infrared
technology. No more uncomfortable skinfold calipers, this
non-invasive technique is calibrated to underwater weighing, and uses
completely safe, Near Infrared light to measure bodyfat. This system
measures only from the arm. For more information or to schedule an

The American Cancer Society and the Derby Recreation Commission
are hosting the 2004 Great American Smokeout.
Come in to receive helpful information on how to kick the smoking
habit for yourself, friends or family.
Everyone who comes in for information will receive a free day
pass to the Derby Recreation Center.
