RISE & SHINE AEROBICS

What better way to jump-start your day than an aerobics class!  This class will lead you through a warm-up to wake up your body, then we will use dumbbells and bands to strengthen and tone.  It will leave you with tons of energy for your day!  You won’t regret it!

 

BODYSHAPING

This class is designed specifically for women.  Learn exercises that shape and tone your physique.  Do you like the structure of a class, plus a little bit of freedom?  Bodyshaping is the class for you!  We use free weights, Paramount machines, tubing, medicine balls and your own body to help you build muscular endurance and strength. If you need more of a challenge or less...we’re here to help!  This class has no cardiovascular component. 

 

DUMBBELL PUMP

Strength and cardiovascular training ARE the keys to a healthier life!  This class is the miracle pill you’ve been waiting for.  It’s worth every penny!  Become part of a high-energy class that uses giant sets and super sets, along with circuit training, to train and tone muscles you never knew you had!  Also included is an ab workout that will help you develop that six pack!  Exercises can be adapted to your level.

 

STEP MIX

This class is full of variations!  We’ll do circle steps, weights, toning, intervals and more!  It is appropriate for all ages and abilities.  If you are tired of the same old thing and want some variety and fun, this is the class for you.  We start out with simple skills and build on them until you forget that exercise isn’t supposed to be this much fun!

 

FUNCTIONAL FITNESS

Physical activity can significantly improve the quality of life.  Weight gain, Arthritis, Type II Diabetes, Osteoporosis, Heart Disease, High Blood Pressure and frailty from inactivity can all become health issues as we age.  We need to take a proactive role to achieve and maintain a healthy level of fitness.  Use a variety of basic functional movements and the use of resistance bands, exercise balls, Pilates, and Yoga will be combined to address balance, stability, cardiovascular endurance, strength, and flexibility.  Because of  variety in fitness levels, modifying to your individual intensity is encouraged.

MIX & MATCH

Are two classes enough?  Would you like to try three or four?  How about Step Mix and Basic Training.  You can attend two Step Mix and one Basic Training or vice versa.  Or go for it and attend all four!

 

NOTHING BUT GUTS

A 30-minute workout designed to tone, strengthen and tighten your abs and lower back.  If you have a hard time getting motivated to work your abs, this class is perfect.  All fitness levels welcome.  Arrive warmed up and ready to go.  The ab workout will be followed by a short stretching segment to promote flexibility along with strength.

 

SCULPT & STEP

Do you want a challenge?  Want to leave class tired, knowing that you just worked your body hard?  Perform strength training using dumbbells and bands during the first half, and the second half-watch out!  We kick your butt with a vigorous cardiovascular portion.  It’s guaranteed youll leave sweating!

 

STEP & TONE

Class will take you through a variety of step moves, plus weights to tone and shape your body.  Two days of step and one day of muscle toning.  Don’t worry, men or women of any fitness level can register.  If you want a challenging workout, give this class a try!

 

BEGINNING STRENGTH TRAINING

This class is for those who would like to participate in entry level weight bearing and muscle strengthening exercise.  Our instructor will guide you through a warm-up, stretching, and then on to strength training, ending with 20-30 minutes of a cardiovascular component.  Class is designed for those interested in entry level strength training. 

 

BUNS & TUMS 

Are you ready for a fun-filled aerobics class focusing on buns and tums?  Melt inches away in just 30 minutes!  Involves not only short intervals of cardiovascular workouts, but also toning exercises to firm up legs, glut and abs.  Enjoy building your muscles and feeling great!

 

TIGHTER ASSETS

That’s right, it’s just like it sounds.  We’re going to work pretty intensely in this one-hour session.  The instructor will use all of the equipment on hand to help you achieve “tighter assets”!

 

CARDIO PUMP

Results are the key to staying motivated.  The best fitness plan involves cardiovascular conditioning and muscle strengthening.  Although concentrating on cardio, this class has both.  Using light weights during a variation of aerobic activities will help you get that toned look while burning unwanted fat.

 

GO-N-GOBBLE

Come prepare yourself for your Thanksgiving feast with a family workout at the DRC.  Step Aerobics, Yoga, Just Spin, and the Fitness Center will be open to help jump-start your Thanksgiving Day.  Bring the whole family and enjoy this holiday event!  Admittance fee is one canned food item per person.

POWER HOUR

This program is going to be a “combo class”.  I know, you’re wondering what, exactly, THAT is.  Well...you’re going to be doing circuits, partner work, core work.  Not as much cardiovascular work as you will be toning and defining those muscles.  Don’t get me wrong, you’re going to get your heart rate up lifting the weights more than you’ll ever believe.  This is a class that we’re going to encourage you to bring your child (male or female, age 12-16) with you to class.  Enroll your child in this class with you, and their fee is half price!

TURBO TREK

Want a really good cardio workout?  Join this class and our instructor will take you through a variety of interval workouts using the treadmill, EFX, bike and stepper.  This class will really get your heart pumping!

 

THIS JUST SPIN-BEGINNERS TO INTERMEDIATE

Looking for a change from the traditional exercise class, with no complicated dance moves to follow?  Then just pedal.  Sounds easy, but don’t be fooled, spinning works your quadriceps, hamstrings, calves, hips and abdominals.  It’s an excellent method for losing weight, because it burns a tremendous number of calories.  It also boosts cardiovascular fitness, muscle tone and endurance.  Unlike actual cycling, there are no worries about lagging behind the pack.  Everyone finishes together.  And, everyone gets a great workout!  Walk-ins accepted on a space available basis for $5.00 per class.

 

ADVANCED SPIN 

As winter closes in and the days shorten, the pace picks up at the DRC!  Now you can use indoor cycling to become a better outdoor cyclist.  To recreate your outdoor biking experience, the LeMond RevMasters seat and handlebars are both adjustable, up and down, and back and forth.  The pedals can be changed to accommodate your pedal preference.  Spin classes offer aerobic training, using all your cycling specific muscles, without the boredom of that stationary trainer in the basement.  With the outdoors getting less enticing, join our accomplished cycling instructors for a ninety minute indoor ride.  Walk-ins accepted on a space available basis for $5.00 per class.

 

PILATES

This class will explore the basics of Pilates.  It is designed to promote a balanced musculoskeletal system by increasing your core strength, spinal flexibility and good posture.  Body and postural alignment is emphasized as well as breathing concentration and focus.  Appropriate for all fitness levels.

 

SPIN-ILATES

Thirty minutes of fast-paced spin action and 30 minutes of core-strengthening Pilates will be sure to get your body into tip-top shape.  Get the aerobic benefits of spin classes with the body toning of Pilates in a one-hour class.  Don’t delay to sign up; space is limited!

GENTLE YOGA

This is a beginning level Yoga class designed to introduce Hatha Yoga.  Basic postures that include stretching, moving and breathing will help build strength, flexibility and balance.  If you ever wanted to try Yoga, come to this class!

 

GENTLE YOGA PLUS

This is the next step after Gentle Yoga.  Do you want a little bit more of a challenge?  This class will give you a boost up.  We’re still doing the basic postures that include stretching, moving and breathing that will help you build strength, flexibility and balance, but we add in challenging poses as well.

 

YOGA

Hatha Yoga is the ancient technique of stretching with deep breathing to tone and shape joints and muscles.  A total-body workout, practiced by any fitness level.  While the figure altering properties are unmistakable, the greatest benefits occur inside.  Mats provided.  Sign up early!

 

RELAX & RENEW

This class is for people who experience conditions such as chronic fatigue syndrome, Fibromyalgia, osteoarthritis, arthritis, osteoporosis, back pain, cancer, carpal tunnel, etc.  The focus is on freeing joints, developing strength, flexibility, balance, breath awareness and deep relaxation to improve circulation and enhance the immune system.

 

BRING A BUDDY WEEK

Tired of coming to the DRC by yourself?  Ask your best friend, mom, sister, co-worker to come with you to exercise.  At least convince them to try!  During the first week of classes, January 3-7, bring someone to your class with you.  It is a proven fact that if you exercise with a buddy you are more likely to stick to the program.  It’s good for you and for them!  Give it a try.

 

FITNESS MAYHEM-MINI SESSION

We know how important fitness is to you, so we’ve decided to offer a limited class line-up during our winter break!  We will have one morning class Monday through Friday and one evening class Monday through Thursday.  There will be an assortment of instructors teaching these classes as well as a variety of the class that will be taught.  Come prepared for anything, but enjoy yourself and stay fit!
