Why should I care about health education?

Health education builds knowledge, skills, and positive attitudes about health. Health education teaches about physical, mental, emotional and social health. It motivates individuals to improve and maintain their health, prevent disease and reduce risky behaviors.

Health education programs are designed to empower Derby residents to improve their health and quality of life. Programs are managed by the Derby Health Collaborative in partnership with the Bureau of Health Promotion within the Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE). All programs are facilitated by trained and certified leaders. with years of experience in the health promotion field.
